We three souls
bound by the glue of friendship
and a friend named Jack.
Jack, who read our poetry
with an honest eye and slurred speech
whose sultry breath
blew out our candles
on those old stone steps
and sent us masquerading into the streets
pretending we were happy.
Jack, who holds our secrets
keeping them corked up
in an old musty bottle of alcohol.
Secrets we will never tell
and neither will Jack.
