Broken Vase

I sit upon your shelf
long since forgotten
while accommodating you
and decorating your place
styling up your space
a pretty little work of art
to put a smile
upon your face
and I hang out
here on this ledge
waiting to be sold
longing to be replaced
but that
will not be the case
because over there
on that shelf
sits a new boldface
in my old place
not as pretty a piece
not as accommodating
or as decorative
to your space
So I am kept
as a corner piece
for you
to appease your need
to get a glimpse
of my artistry
and efface
just so you can know
I'm still here
a very empty
but not broken
vase.
