and bloody marys

spiced up
spiked hard
with the essence
of married life
souls on fire
that admire
in the other
the intensity of their power
with which they ignite
that thirst, that fight
call upon the priest
to serve the marriage
it's Last Rights
because for all that determination
you left your courage behind
basking in your light
it was so very obvious
from the very first night
you would never survive
and your marriage,
broken by bloody battles
and boozed up on bloody mary's
taught you time after time
never take your heart out
in the middle of a fist fight.
